FutureFlex

The objectives of this project were to optimize a difficult, single-family urban site that abuts multi-family and commercial properties with a flexible infill building - to initially serve as the new home and offices for a design-professional couple and their family’s long-term, changing needs - that is also adaptable to inevitable zoning changes.

The project was conceived as straightforward and low-cost, durable and lasting live-work structure that flexibly adapts to its neighborhood and inhabitants over time through creative site planning and the interrelationship of a single-family residence, an attached accessory dwelling unit (ADU) and a private courtyard.
